Weekend Hike: Pyramid Point

This weekend we made a point to not only get out in the sunshine (I have all sorts of Garden stuff to share with you all this week 🙂 ) but also to go hiking of course. It was still a little chilly near the water but honestly I couldn’t have cared. We did the classic Pyramid Point hike mainly just to remind ourselves that this place is absolutely out of this world gorgeous and that we live here for these warm days.

It was awesome to hike through the woods where the wild leeks were sprouting and the ground was preparing to be covered with Morels very soon. The ride up the Leelanau Penninsula was something else and I remembered once again why I love calling Northern Michigan home especially this time of year. There is no mistaking how gorgeous it is here. I wish I could just bring you all up this hill to see this view in person because there is no other way to see it.

The whole way up the hill you can hear the faint sound of the light house from the islands and feel the cool breeze of the expansive crystal clear lake. It smelled of the wild leeks and freshly emerged ground. We saw deer, a porcupine, and plenty of squirrels (the one reason Tucker loves hiking more than anything).

It was such a perfect way to begin the season. I love taking this hike at least 4 times a year to see how it all changes and how the water never fails to amaze me no matter how hot, cold, cloudy, or fresh it is. Love that Lake more than it may ever know.

What did you do this weekend? Did you have Spring weather?

  1. What gorgeous pictures! The weather looks so crisp + energising. I’m in Australia so we’re in Autumn at the moment, but I love the ‘in between’ seasons and how fresh and rejuvenating they feel. You have inspired me to get out this weekend and enjoy the gorgeous weather! x

  2. i went roaming around my city this weekend too but it was more of a downtown sorta roam. but, i do have a small weekend trip to catalina island planned for may which i’m really excited about. it’s been years since i’ve been there and i can’t wait to be back. spring definitely gets the outdoorsy person in us out.

  3. I love your Michigan posts. My husband is from Detroit, and he is over the moon that I am finally showing love for his mitten-shaped state. 🙂 We definitely want to get over to your neck of the woods for a getaway. It looks so beautiful!

  4. Great post, Megan! My husband and I got engaged at Pyramid Point. It’s one of my very favorite places Up North. It looks beautiful (but different) each season.

  5. Wow, gorgeous pics! Looks a lot like my home town area – You’ve got to come visit Vancouver, BC! And I think Michigan is next on my list. Planting, boating, and celebrating my Birthday is on the agenda this week/weekend. Enjoy yours! Ps. Did you jump in?

  6. That hike looks wonderful! I hope you share more of it as the seasons change!
Did you pick any of the wild leeks?

p.s. I don’t know if anyone else is experiencing this (or if it just happens to be my computer), but I always have trouble getting your photos to load in my browser (even the ones in the sidebar). I use feedly mostly and they load just fine there, but when I come straight to your site (usually on chrome) the photos never want to show up 🙁

  7. I also love your Michigan posts! I moved here two years ago and have fallen head over heels–especially with Sleeping Bear Dunes. I can’t wait to visit again this summer. That view makes these long winters completely and utterly worth it. Thanks for sharing!
