A Few Things To Love

Things to Love | The Fresh Exchange

Sometimes your week is a little busy and you need some pretty things to ease your mind. Here is your dose of pretty things from around the web that I just really am smitten over. When my mind is busy I have a thing for getting lost on the web and dreaming a little. You can find my favorite things and many of my wanderings on my Pinterest but also on my Etsy account as well. Happy Tuesday friends!

Also thank you so much for all of your amazing suggestions about our upcoming trip. As an update we are planning to go in this order around the countries: Madrid, Barcelona, San Sebastian, Bilboa, The West Coast of Spain, Porto, Lisbon, Seville, and then fly back out of Madrid. So any suggestions or recs along that route are great. We wanted to do the southern coast but from everything we read we were in love with what northern Spain and Northwest Spain/Portugal has to offer. Cannot believer this is almost a month away! Wow.

  1. So excited to see people travel to Spain & Portugal – I feel like a lot of people miss these countries out when they do Euro-trips. My husband and I currently live in Oviedo, Asturias, teaching English and running our graphic design studio and as you’re going to be in the northwest, I’d highly recommend visiting parts of the Asturian coast, and seeing what Asturias has to offer. So many beautiful little coastal villages, Oviedo itself is gorgeous, the Asturian cider – such a different way to drink cider that everyone should experience at some point, and Asturias in general is really accessible to other places like San Sebastian, the west coast of Galicia, and about a 4 1/2 hr drive from Porto (by bus, train and by car if you’re hiring one – I’d highly recommend it).

Looking forward to seeing you guys explore such a beautiful part of the world!

  2. Hi Megan & Mike! I studied in Bilbao for 6 months and fell deeply in love with the city and the surrounding country. The beach is so close to the mountains- my own personal heaven! If you can, visit Gazteugatxe- a small hermitage on a sea inlet, dating back to the 9th century. It is stunning- something out of a movie! Just a short drive from Bilbao 🙂 Can’t wait to follow along!

  3. Have fun exploring our beautiful peninsula! I’m from Barcelona and I’m sure you’ll love everything about the city.
Plus, Lisbon is my favourite city ever and northern Spain and northern Portugal are beyond beautiful too. Can’t wait to see your pictures!

Ps. I love your Etsy selection, from now on I’ll follow your account!

  4. Such good finds, I love them all. I pinned/favorited just about every one. Thanks for introducing me to a few new shops. I agree, sometimes you just have to let your mind space out in the midst of busyness.

  5. I lived in Spain for a year in college. I traveled all over the country. My favorite cities were Seville and Granada. I went to Bilboa in January and didn’t like it as much as Southern Spain. Maybe it was the bitter cold and broken hotel heater though. The Southern cities felt more lively to me. Do try some sidra in Bilboa and buñuelos(pumpkin donuts) or churros with chocolate.
