I am super excited to share this part of the Simple Evening with you all. We have been so excited to share the branding we did for White Whale’s Bold Mixer line. We had the privilege of working along with the owners Corey (he also owns Clyde Oak) and Dave (the mixologist genius) in creating these bottles and being apart of launching this brand in April. So it was very neat to have them as a big part of our evening in Raleigh to mix their cocktails for everyone during appetizers.

The White Whale mixers are not like your normal bottled cocktail mixers. These guys are easy, bold, and organic with low amounts of sugar in them. These are the kind of cocktails you mix with great bourbon and really good gin. They demand an applause upon your first sip not because of the show to put them together but because of the quality and flavor that hits your lips. Don’t expect it to be light though. The mix is 2 to 1. This means you have 2 ounces of the suggested liquor (so choose the good stuff!) and 1 ounce White Whale.

You stir the mixture with ice and pour in to your favorite glass. Mike and I have gotten in to mixing them in our small water glasses or hell we have event mixed a couple up and poured them in to a flask and gone hiking and kept it on hand for a little pick me up (makes us sound like alcoholics but I promise we are not! We just dig good cocktails once and while…why not while you are hiking?)

I think the thing I love the most about this mixer is how easy it is for parties. Each bottle equals out to 8 cocktails so you can serve them up quick and easy at a party and still have a very impressive cocktail that your guests will think you spent a lot of time preparing, shaking, and perfecting…but instead you had the trusty good old house guest trio (Auntie’s Old Fashioned, The Filthy Liar, and Your Older Brother) to make you look like a rockstar.

This was our first time that night really experiencing White Whale in a party situation. Before it had just been casually on our own through the prototypes we were mailed on and off through the process of them perfecting the mixture. So we were really excited to enjoy our Filthy Liar in a fancy coup with the perfect lime twist.

If you all are looking for a really good gift this Summer for a party or house warming or even for your friend who is about to have a baby I really suggest snagging a bottle or two of one of White Whale and choose a good pairing liquor to go along with it. It makes for a really easy and fun gift…especially if you get to partake in it.

Along with our cocktails we also got to enjoy apps from Capital Club 16. Remember Jake mixing up the Pimento Cheese? Well we had it on top of the crostini’s just like in the post. They were the perfect pairing with the cocktails and had that perfect combo of farm to table southern food that Capital Club 16 is so well known for.

Having cocktails that were based on the garden and organic ingredients with the farm to table style appetizers. I could not think of a better way to taste North Carolina than what we had just started with that evening. After setting up all day it was the best way to begin to relax and settle in to a great evening.

We felt so honored to have Anna Watson Carl from The Yellow Table come along with her husband Brandon. They flew in all the way from New York City to be there and help us write the story for Anthology magazine’s blog. Did you catch the feature?

It really was a special evening and I cannot wait to share the last post…but first don’t miss this video we created to show the cocktail hour and how pretty those White Whale cocktails really are! Plus that song is just the perfect song to get the party started isn’t it?
