Multi-Cultural Wedding Suite

Over the weekend I worked some extra hours putting together a preview board for a client who’s wedding will be in June. The couple are using the wonderful Alicia Caldecott of A Day In May Events as their wedding planner, which means I get to work side by side with her on their invitation design and all their day of pieces as well. So I thought I would show you a quick preview of what is to come with their suite for their wedding.

I cannot explain how excited I have been about this one. Each one of my clients has such a different story behind how they met, how they fell in love, and how they see their wedding happening so I always feel so honored to be apart of that by designing that first experience that the guests will get of the couple’s wedding. How awesome is that?

Well for this wedding the couple met in China and he has grown up in China and she is from Michigan so they are doing a their wedding here in Northern Michigan and mixing in a lot of the Chinese elements into their wedding. I love how unique this wedding will be and truly who they are and who they will be becoming. A Day in May has done a beautiful job intertwining the two cultures seamlessly and cannot wait to see this wedding happen!

So for this suite the couple provided the large card that is hand painted from a painter in China, which I think is very neat so we decided to spray mount a paper and their actual invite inside and use the card to hold all the pieces. The whole suite will focus on the reds and the traditional chinese elements…at the wedding and reception the red will be carried through but begin to have more of the pastels in the palette as you see in the place card in the bottom right corner. The couple loved the hand painted look of the card and I wanted to pull those elements throughout since it connected the Chinese card and the organic feeling of Northern Michigan. I am just so excited to put this all together for them!!
